Three Creeks Produce is a certified organic vegetable farm in Central Ohio.

We are hoping to add talented folks to our farm team this season! We are prioritizing full-time (40hrs) positions at this time, and have a couple spots available.

Who are we looking for? Prior experience on a farm like ours is excellent, of course. But what we value most are folks that derive fulfilment from physical, dynamic work - no sitting behind a desk here! Who appreciate the variety that seasonality brings to each day. Who would rather be outside than not. Who would fit in well with a caring, good-natured team. Who enjoy bringing energy and focus to every task. If you see yourself here, we'd love to hear from you.

First salad of 2025!

We start our earliest seedlings in our basement to save on heating the greenhouse as long as we can. When it comes to veggies, you do what you gotta do!

It's 20° outside, but absolutely balmy in here thanks to a break in the clouds! Our high tunnel greenhouses don't have supplemental heating, so it's all about capturing the sun when it's here! Today we are using some strategies to 'crank the heat' (closing up vents, shutting off fans, and disabling the inflators) to melt every bit of stubborn snow off the roof. We've got a bigger snowfall ahead, so every bit of advanced preparation helps!

It doesn't take much snow to structurally damage a high tunnel, so we might have to move quick if it starts to build up. Clearing snow off the tunnels uses a very specific set of muscles and is quite the workout! We'll be skipping the gym today, just in case.

A familiar sight for winter growers! It's cover, uncover, cover, uncover, cover, uncover, cover, uncover, and on and on like that until April. The people love salad, and we will get it to them!

Winter production 101: plants can't be harvested when they're frozen! So when you have very long, cold stretches like we just did in central Ohio, you're at the mercy of the temps and the sun...which don't always align with the M-F workweek! We've been in high gear harvesting like mad before it dips back below freezing.

It's a big day! We're wrapping up last-minute harvests for the first @columbusfarmclub winter boxes (delivered tomorrow!), and enjoying the few remaining days with our seasonal crew members. It's been a fun season, and we will miss them!

The winter CSA means we can employ at least some of our staff year-round. Steady, year-round work helps make farming a more viable livelihood and career choice. It's just one way your CSA membership makes a huge difference to our farms and to our lives. We are grateful for each and every member!

The team is tackling lots of fall clean-up in the fields this week, including lots of these kale "stumps"

It's Meet the Team Tuesday! 👨‍🌾🚜 Sam joined us part-time this season seeking hands-on farm experience to accompany his farm and community advocacy work in the nonprofit sector. We love his sense of humor, curiosity, and willingness to try anything! Here's some of what he had to say:

Favorite farm snack: Beets! They are really tasty, sweet, cool vegetables that I grew my love for after working for Three Creeks.

Farming superpower: My love for learning! I took this job to gain more valuable, hands-on ag experience and I'm not afraid to ask a lot of questions about what the heck I'm doing. This helps me understand the work better, but also helps me understand the world better!

When I'm not at the farm, I'm probably doing nonprofit work. I work for a nonprofit org, Farm-To-Power, where I do a lot of networking within the ag sector, and I run my own community nonprofit organization out of my hometown in Morgan County, Ohio, Morgan Community Support & Solutions.

What I want people to know about agriculture, is that it takes A LOT of work to get food from a farm to you for a meal. Not just physical labor, but policies, laws, regulations, markets, certifications, etc. all go into making sure that people have fresh, healthy food. The more that we can remove this disconnect and help people understand where their food comes from, the more they will appreciate that food and the work that went into it.

Small business owners wear a lot of hats (and goggles). It can feel like a lot to manage. Actually, it *is* a lot to manage! But here's your reminder: from time to time, remember to reflect on just how much you are capable of. And the next unknown thing you'll try? Yeah, I'm certain you'll be able to do that, too.

Thanks to everyone who has checked in on how we are faring during this historic drought. Fortunately, we have the capacity to have irrigation in place on all of our plots, so the impact of dry conditions can be mitigated. We did delay seeding these fall cover crops (which need rainfall to get established), but sowed some today with hopeful rain in the forecast this week. 🤞

Many farms in our region are greatly impacted, though. We have been keeping fellow producers in our thoughts as they struggle through this particular flavor of 'climate weirding'. It continues to underscore how critical healthy and resilient soils are to our food supply and to our society, particularly as we encounter a greater frequency of inconsistent and impactful weather. We are looking forward to the inaugural #ohiosoilhealthweek next month (Nov 10-16) and the growing awareness of this important topic.

It's a beautiful morning to harvest cilantro. Or, anything else, really! It's been pretty warm for September but the mornings have been nice and crisp. We're powering through a long list of items for our CSA going out tomorrow!

Apologies to our patient neighbors for tractoring up and down the street today shuttling many bins of these cuties back to the home farm. One nice thing about this drought...the dry weather sure kept these guys nice and clean!

We plant kale continuously throughout the season. Over 8 years of farming, that's added up to quite a few! But this latest planting is the most beautiful crop we have *ever* seen in our years of growing. The pics don't do it justice. Same varieties and techniques we always use, but just that little bit of inexplicable alchemy.

This is why we love farming - despite challenges, there are always a lot of wins and improvements to chase.

They're all so cute, it's hard to pick a favorite 🫑
